Sachsenring circuit – Excellent start for Team JiR

It was a positive final session of the day for Randy Krummenacher and Team JiR at the German track of the Sachsenring circuit.

The Swiss rider ended the final session in seventh place after slashing 1.2 seconds from his morning time and is in ninth place on combined times, just under two-tenths of a second behind fastest rider Sam Lowes. In FP2, Randy topped the timings with 22 minutes of the session to go. Sadly, a red-flag with seven minutes of FP2 remaining meant a re-started session and due to traffic the 25-year-old could not improve further, but this gives him confidence ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.

Andrea Viviani, Chief Technician: “We tried a different setting compared to the first races we have more of a margin around the base set-up and it looks like it is working. This was despite in the morning session we didn’t have such a good feeling and the track was not in best condition of grip so we tried to adjust things and it looked to work quite well. We seem to be on the pace but we will investigate in other areas and try to improve. So, it’s a case of more changes tomorrow and we will compare and analyse the data.”

Randy Krummenacher, 9th position, best lap 1m 25.214s: “It was good to be at the top of the times for a short while. We made some steps forward on the set-up as in general we struggled a little in the last races, but now we improve and I improve also, so it is positive all round. But we have to keep working and try to improve again tomorrow. Our pace is good but at the end of FP2 I was not that clever as I wasn’t starting too fast out of pit-lane so I was in traffic in the last few minutes of the time after the red flag, so I should learn from that. Tomorrow we will make more changes to try and increase our consistency and rhythm.”
