Randy Krummenacher stranded in the garage at the Catalan Grand Prix

Team JiR and 25-year-old Randy Krummenacher suffered a mystery electronics issue today in the second free practice session for Sunday’s Catalan Grand Prix.

The Swiss rider struggled initially in the morning’s session with feel from his Kalex Moto2 machine, but in the second session started off with improved feedback from the bike following some set up changes. However, as he and the team were heading into the final 20 minutes of the last session, a mystery electronics issue left them stranded in the garage.

The team are still up-beat for tomorrow, despite the lost time. With a clear improvement between the two sessions, Randy and the team will now analyse the data and look to make further improvements in the time remaining to them before the race.

Randy Krummenacher, 24th position, best lap 1m 48.341s:

“It wasn’t good for us today. I didn’t have a good feeling in the morning and then when we finally had a good feeling in the afternoon, we had the electronics problems so the last 20 minutes we missed. This is bad as we have lost a lot of time. Thankfully our direction on set up is good so this gives me some confidence and I like the track so I keep positive. I’m hoping for a much better day tomorrow for me and my team as many of them are not feeling too well.”
