Motorcycle Live 2012 is the perfect place to introduce aspiring young riders to the exciting world of motorcycling. Not only can they climb aboard all the latest new bikes in the static displays, but they can try their hand at riding for real with Honda’s unique ‘My First Licence’ feature.
Children between the ages of five and 11 can enjoy a FREE taster session on a restricted 50cc Honda bike in the safe and controlled environment of the specially constructed indoor street scene. They will be guided around by a trained instructor – and if they’re lucky one of Honda’s well-known racers will be dropping by – before receiving their very own printed mock-up licence. Kids will love taking part and parents will love watching, but don’t take out word for it – here’s what visitors to the 2011 show (and one of the star helpers) had to say…
“I remember the first time I rode a motorbike and the bug just bit me, so it’s really cool to see the kids getting the chance to ride and get used to balancing and control in such a relaxed atmosphere with trained instructors. We might find a future star!” – Jonathan Rea, Honda World Superbike rider
“My First Honda Licence is absolutely fabulous. I’ve got three kids of my own so it’s a great way to introduce them to biking. They absolutely loved it.” – Timothy Byrne, 44, Bristol
“It was brilliant! I want to get my own bike now but I’ll have to ask my mum and dad.” – Louis Clements, 6, Leighton Buzzard
“I was a bit scared at first but the man was nice and it was fun.” – Beth Durrell, 4, Norwich
“It looked like great fun and I wish they’d done something like that when I was growing up. I wouldn’t have left it so late to get on two wheels!” – Trevor Hall, 45, Mottram in Longdendale
“The Honda my First Licence is a lovely idea. We watched the little kids have a go last year with the guy running behind with a safety cord so they can’t get away. It’s great to give the kids the sense of freedom that a motorcycle gives and teach the balance and the control they need from an early age.” – Dorothy Jones, 63, Llansilin
