Good race pace for Team JiR Moto2 Machine in Germany

Team JiR Moto2 machine suffers front tyre issues, playing havoc with Randy Krummenacher during qualifying session – Now in 19th place for the German Grand Prix, meaning that he and his Team JiR Moto2 machine are in 19th place for tomorrow’s German Grand Prix.

The team are positive for the race tomorrow though, as the 25-year-old Swiss rider did slash two-tenths of a second from his lap-time of yesterday, but found he had an issue with his soft tyre and had to qualify on the harder race compound Dunlop. It was yet another tight qualifying session, with the top 20 covered by just one second.

Up at the front, series leader and former Team JiR rider Johann Zarco is in pole position, with Xavier Simeon in second and Franco Morbidelli in third.

Andrea Viviani, Chief Technician: “Today we continued our work from yesterday we improved a little and Randy has a good consistent rhythm with the hard tyre so we tried to improve his fast single lap on the soft tyre but we have an issue with the front tyre or wheel so we had to do our quick lap in race configuration so we are disappointed but we are really confident on race pace and rider ability on the race tyre. So, one side of us feels bad as we have a great potential which we could not exploit today on the soft tyre in qualifying, but on the other side the rider is very fast and consistent on the race tyre. For warm up we try an adjustment to improve the bike on the downhill corners and into the braking zones, even if we have to make a small compromise. Even in hot conditions we are in good shape for tomorrow.”

Randy Krummenacher, 19th, best lap 1m 25.027s: “We had some issues with the front of the bike today – we don’t know why, we had to change the front wheel again and the problems disappeared, but we were not able to take an advantage with the soft tyre so I’m quick with the hard tyre so need to analyse and make a better plan tomorrow. My pace is good but the question is if the others go with the soft tyre we need to do that also, so we have to see. Anything is possible and I feel good so let us look forward to the race.”
