BMF Stolen Motorcycles

STOLEN MOTORCYCLES CAPTURED IN BMF WEB!

The BMF is to use its highly popular website, Riderspace, to run a national Stolen Bikes Register.

The decision by the BMF, the UK’s largest rider group, is a natural follow-on to last year’s highly successful ‘Don’t Be A Loser’ campaign. Launched by the BMF to focus attention on the 34,000 machines stolen in the UK every year, the campaign brought in regular calls for information and advice, but many from victims of bike theft anxious to publicise their loss.

Launched today, the site, www.bmf.co.uk/stolen, where theft victims can submit details directly on line, records stolen bikes on a database easily searched by either make or registration number. The BMF will have no direct involvement with tracing stolen machines and offers no promises of recovery, but simply offers this facility for either the victim or a prospective purchaser to use. Anyone with information is directed to the confidential Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111, which is displayed on every page.

BMF spokesman Jeff Stone said: “Bike theft can be a traumatic experience. You’ve had your pride and joy stolen, you’re angry and you want to tell the world. Riderspace, as a well established site getting up to 500,000 hits per month, is a good place to start.”
The Stolen Bike Register is a free service offered to motorcycling by the BMF as its latest contribution to combating bike crime. Stolen motorcycles will be listed for 3 months.
