After
several years dominating the slider market with our colourful
leather sliders, we looked at the plastic slider market and
found, surprise surprise, there was a huge range of boring black
and white sliders to choose from. We wanted to produce a plastic
slider as we knew we had an excellent material in the pipeline,
but did not wish to follow the crowd.
This is how the WakiPlaki slider was born.
We wanted to carry over the layered idea of the leather slider
and so through a new manufacturing technique from our unique
type of plastic, we put layer upon layer of multi-coloured plastic,
giving them Waki designs. As the slider wears down, the various
colours come through and so the patterns change.
The Waki's are the chosen slider of many road racers, including
top names like Ian Simpson. Ian was quoted in Motorcycle News
after winning the 1998 TT that he had managed to save a huge
slide, and what could have been a disastrous accident, by holding
the bike on his knee, showing that it is not only our leather
sliders which offer this capability. |
