The Original Leather slider was the first slider to be made by WIZ in 1991 and is the holder of a coveted RIDE magazine BEST BUY tag. It was a case of me wanting a knee slider the same as my GP heroes, but not being able to purchase any, I decided to have a go at making my own. There is quite a lot of difference in feel between our plastic and leather sliders, but that's all about personal taste. The leather slider offers more feedback to the rider and this can be a huge benifit to racers and road riders alike. Of course, leather sliders offer excellent pose value too as the surface wears down to expose layer after layer of scorched leather, highlighted by the glossy paintwork of the un-abused part of the slider. GP Leather, the top of the range slider, voted "Performance Bike" Best Leather Slider in a recent test! They said "Excellent curved fit. Compound feels almost like plastic. Leaves lines on the road, definitely trick" The GP Leather slider is the proud holder of the Performance Bikes magazine "Best Leather Slider" award, beating the much more expensive offerings from Nankai and Kushitani. The GP Leather sliders are shaped to fit each leg for a really comfortable fit and come in a range of bright, durable colours. James Whitham has used WIZ sliders for many years including his UK Superbike championship winning seasons, and during one of his years as a top World Superbike rider which included a win in one round and several rostrum positions. James could be seen on TV pushing his uncompetitive Yamaha past, under, around and generally all over his competitors, with his bike usually sliding into and through the corners with many near high-sides in a desperate attempt to stay with their much faster machines! A few days after one race James told us here at WIZ that he saved a good many of these slides by pushing hard on and taking the weight on his WIZ leather slider, taking the pressure off the protesting tyres giving them a chance to regain grip and continue with the race. Apart from the GP Leather slider, WIZ also offer two other leather options - the small "Roundie" which is ideal for the rider who likes the taste of a leather slider at a budget price and the firm favourite and holder of the RIDE magazine "BEST BUY" tag, the Original Leather slider.
