Yamaha FZ6- Naked All-Rounder

Yamaha FZ6
There is a growing army of young guns out there on the streets and what they really, really want are exciting and naked… er, bikes. Many young, discerning and fashion conscious riders are currently demanding style, power and innovation. In response, Yamaha launched the FZ6, which now has a new hot for 2005 price tag - £4,699 on the road.

The naked middleweight’s bold styling has been designed with an uncompromising and growing market in mind. And while its engine and chassis are similar to that used on the new 600cc Fazer the new FZ6 is one machine that is out there all on its own.

Powered by Yamaha’s renowned 600cc engine, the pugnaciously styled FZ6 will undoubtedly attract a lot of attention, whether it is on a busy high street or along quiet country lanes. With a solid, weld-free, aluminium frame, there is plenty of metal to admire. This includes the four-into-one exhaust and lightweight five-spoke wheels.

It’s not all window dressing, though, because that powerful engine has been re-tuned to give greater mid-range acceleration and produce a healthy 98hp.

Fuel-injection gives the FZ6 a smoother power band and the modified gearbox enables the rider to make best use of all the revs available.

Rider ergonomics are good too: the new dual seat helps provide a “sports bike” riding position, and coupled with the swept forward headlight, creates a modern look that is unmistakably classic motorcycling at its most enjoyable. There is no doubt that it will have few problems announcing its presence in the showrooms.
