MOTORCYCLE RACER, THE WORLD'S NUMBER ONE ROAD RACE MAGAZINE REVS UP FOR A FRESH NEW LOOK
Motorcycle Racer, the essential road race read will fire up its exciting new look to avid readers when it hits the road with issue 107, on sale 10 April 2008.
Having been acquired by Mortons Media Group in December 2007, Motorcycle Racer's new publishers, along with freelance editor, Larry 'Scoop' Carter, have set about revamping and improving the magazine, which already boasts exclusive insights into the best international races and covers all the major championships including MotoGP, World Superbikes (WSB), British Superbikes (BSB) and the increasingly popular AMA Championships in America.
For the past three years, Motorcycle Racer has been edited by Larry Carter, a man who truly has his finger on the pulse in all aspects of motorcycle racing. As well as being the voice of the pit lane in the British Superbike Championships and Sky Sports, Larry works with teams, riders and organisers from all around the world - ensuring Motorcycle Racer readers have a unique, behind the scenes insight of their favourite sport.
When asked about Racer's new look, Larry said: "As the magazine is over 10 years old it was certainly in need of a facelift, and this seemed the perfect time to introduce a few new ideas. In doing that, we had to be careful not to do away with popular features and also to maintain the same standards of photography and journalism that the publication is renowned for".
Motorcycle Racer's bold revamp, aims to enhance reading pleasure, with all articles sporting improved colour-coded headings, for easier navigation. It will also retain its much loved 'written by the fans, for the fans' format, while encompassing ground-breaking features and signature designs, which now aim to become its trademarks.
To coincide with this, fantastic interviews and bike tests are promised, plus the introduction of a new 'pure' road racing section. This latest element will appeal to the thousands of 'pure' race fans whose heroes are legends around places like the TT, NW200 and other great road races. Packed in to this exciting new format will also be a number of guest columns from influential personalities.
Editor Larry enthused: "Riders including Shakey Byrne, Neil Hodgson and Chris Walker will continue to write exclusive columns each month, with additional celebrities, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer and Carl Fogarty all lined up to write for special issues. To top this we're currently working on a deal to introduce James Toseland on a regular basis, which really will be the icing on the cake."
The relaunch of Motorcycle Racer revs up to coincide with a boom-time for British bike racing, with Neil Hodgson claiming pole position at Daytona and with the BSB gearing up for a fantastic season, there has never been such a sense of anticipation!
Chaz Davies, who recently made history by becoming the first British rider to win the Daytona 200, will feature on the cover of Motorcycle Racer's 107th issue. Also recognised in this issue, are the achievements of James Toseland, Scott Redding, Danny Webb and Bradley Smith at the opening round of MotoGP 2008.
If this still isn't enough to set pulses racing, Motorcycle Racer also has fantastic competitions lined up throughout the year, to win such prizes as VIP passes to the Donington MotoGP and Brands WSB.
In a final word, Mortons Commercial Director, Nigel Hole said: "I am delighted with the new design and feel of the magazine and with Larry Carter's vast racing experience, Motorcycle Racer is sure to continue to be the most popular publication for one of the world's most spectacular sports".
