Suzuki's newest V-Twin, the sharply styled SV1000S, makes its on-sale debut this week through Suzuki's official dealer network. Fresh from winning a wealth of media acclaim at the first world press test in Spain earlier this month, the all-new SV1000S is set to storm the UK motorcycle sales charts with a retail price of just £6399.

"Motorcycling fun in its purest form", was the objective set for Suzuki's V-Twin engineers. They were set free with a simple brief to emphasise the V-Twin characteristics of the machine by making it look, sound and feel right with a sculpted engine and frame, deep throaty rumble and responsive and user-friendly handling. Taking the initial reaction of the UK's motorcycle media into account, it appears that they have achieved just that.

Sporty Half Fairing
The Suzuki SV1000S simply screams innovation. The all-new chassis, built to comfortably handle the power output of the high-performance engine, is rigid yet lightweight. A high-vacuum casting technology is used to allow consistent distribution of materials, ensuring that there are no bubbles in the cast when the molten metal hardens. This means that the casting sections can be thinner, lighter and of superior quality.

State of the art V-Twin power is provided by a big-bore, short stroke 996cc liquid-cooled engine. The new Suzuki is also equippedwith the latest version of the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel injection system - a sophisticated engine management system that controls the bike's fuel injection and ignition timing.

"Suzuki intended the SV to be more street than track from the off. It is designed to be very rider-friendly with a pliable power delivery and an ultra-stable chassis which also sees a return to conventional monoshock suspension. But it also delivers the kind of exhilarating ride that makes you grin every time the throttle gets cracked wide open." Motor Cycle News, 12 February 2003

The SV1000S boasts fully adjustable front forks and powerfull 4-piston front brake callipers. It features a comfortable riding position and relatively low seat height, a passenger grab bar, luggage tie-down hooks, an under-seat storage compartment and a large 17-litre fuel tank. The sharp styling highlights the slim and compact dimensions of the SV1000S andis completed with a distinctive swept up tail section with two unique vertical lines of LED brake lights.

"The overall feel of the bike is one of light weight and agility, and it steers with an easy, neutral attitude even at walking pace, when many bikes try to turn in too far. It lacks the aggression of a full-on-race replica, but it's plenty sporting enough while dishing out a broad range of other abilities underscored by fun and excitement."
