British Superbikes
With new bikes and two fresh young riders, the Essex based team have already stated that their intention is to get among the front runners as a matter of priority.
Australian Billy McConnell already has experience in the Superbike class and, crucially, a fund of knowledge relating to the new “control” tyre manufacturer for 2008, Pirelli. His team mate, Stuart Easton, a former British Supersport Champion, is also no stranger to Superbikes and even deputised for an injured Michael Rutter at last years Scottish round of the Championship with
encouraging results.
“Our first year in Superbikes was gruelling and enjoyable in equal measure if that makes sense!”, says team principle, Nick Morgan. “We learnt a lot about what to do and, in some cases, what not to do. As a team we have built on this experience and arrive at the first round of the new season full of enthusiasm and with a tangible hunger for success”.
Riding the recently launched 2008 Ninja ZX-10R, both riders have had limited but valuable testing time on the machines in Spain during the closed season. “We are really pleased with the development so far, the bikes are well ahead of what we expected but still have so much more to give”, commented team co-owner, Stuart Simmonds. “We have some good basic chassis information now and the engine development is proceeding well. We certainly won’t be up to full strength power wise at the first round but, even now, we are equal with our best power from a fully developed engine from last season”.
Note: The opening round of the British Superbike Championship takes place at the Brands Hatch circuit,Kent on 5 & 6 April
