For us fair-weather bikers, it’s time to get the bike dusted down and ready for action. But before you do, if you haven’t got your summer holiday booked, you’re running out of time!

Here’s a 10-point rundown of some holiday ideas, what we’ve been up to, and some ideas for next winter ….

1. If you’re looking for a last minute getaway, we have a special offer on Harleys. Pick up a 1450 in Orlando after 16 March and ride to Chicago by 03 April and we’ll waive the one way fee, so you just pay the all-inclusive rental rate of £93/day. A great opportunity to see some of the non-touristy parts of the USA, along with a bit of sun, a bit of mountains, and maybe take in Nashville or Memphis for a bit of ‘culture’.

2.  We have brought back our Sturgis tour for this year, so if you want to experience the greatest rally on Earth, with the dollar so low, there’s never been a better time. Tour dates 07-16 Aug 2005. Price £2425 rider, £575 passenger, single room supplement, £475, optional bike insurance £168. We’ll also arrange the flights (probably about £700), and travel insurance (£76.60). Incidentally many of our other US tours are full, and rental bike availability is starting to get tight, so please don’t delay if you are planning to book a US summer holiday this year.

3. Morocco – ever fancied a road tour in Morocco. Well, now you can. We have Honda Varaderos and Transalps available, and our 10-day tour costs just £1745 (pillion £895). Our flights should come in at about £350/p, and travel insurance is £31.80.

4. Mongolia – see what Ewan and Charlie saw, but even more. Our unique 14-day tour on BMW F650s runs 10-23 July, taking in the world famous Nadaam Festival. Rider £2545, pillion £2220. Our flights will be about £500-600.

5. Ladakh – still in Asia, but probably even more of an adventure. Ride the highest pass in the world on an Enfield – what more can I say! 07-23 August.

6. Bhutan – after working there all winter Patrick our guide has come up with a new, improved itinerary and some very impressive local contacts. Dates 23 April – 06 May and 02 - 15 October.

7. Thailand. Ever wanted to learn to ride offroad AND have a great holiday. Well, you can, and you won’t believe the price. We run 3-day training courses, as well as 6 and 12-day tours, for novices to experts. November – February.

8. Canada – I’ve included Canada because unusually we haven’t had much interest in our self-guided tours and rentals there this year. We are airfreighting quite a few bikes over, but it’s in danger of becoming a forgotten destination. You’ve all seen the movies and the travel programmes, you know it’s somewhere that’s on your list of must-see places, and the prices are low because of the weak Canadian dollar. So, give me a call.

9. New at H-C Travel. This year sees H-C Travel take another step forward, as we have been granted an ATOL license. This makes us the ONLY UK bike tour operator that can offer flights for your biking holiday since recent law changes prohibit the sale of flights without this license – and without being able to offer flights (and travel insurance, see below), we couldn’t in all honesty call ourselves a professional tour operator. The financial security this demonstrates also allows us to sell our own travel insurance, designed just for our customers. And you can now pay us through the secure Worldpay link on our website as well. We have also added a new part-time member to our team, Hannah, who takes care of our flight arrangements.

10. So what’s new?! Well, if you’re planning ahead, in the pipeline for 2006 we are hoping to add a number of new tours to run alongside our existing programme, which should keep me busy for a while!

Offroad in New Zealand

Onroad in Thailand

A new range of Self-guided tours in Australia

More Guided and Self-guided tours in Chile

More guided Harley tours in the USA

If you’re interested in any of these please let me know and we’ll get back to you when we have more information.

And of course if you’d like to book any of our tours or hire a bike this summer do get back to me. I say this every year, and every year we have to disappount customers who leave it too late!

This weekend, would you rather plan a fantastic holiday, or spend hours traipsing round a garden centre …….

Happy Easter

Regards
