Motorbike and car enthusiasts urged to pre-register interest to gain free pass for M6 Toll Road Drive for Charity
MOTORCYCLE AND CAR GROUPS URGED TO PRE-REGISTER THEIR INTEREST IN PARTICIPATING IN M6 TOLL’S DRIVE FOR CHARITY EVENT
Organisers of an annual Drive for Charity on the M6 Toll Road are urging car and motorcycle enthusiasts wanting to display their vehicles on the day to pre-register for a free pass to the event.
Because of a huge response to news of this year’s event from such groups – and to allow as many enthusiasts as possible to enjoy the day - the organisers have had to cancel a planned cavalcades to concentrate on joint static displays instead.
As in previous years, Midland Expressway Limited (operators of the M6 Toll road) are to donate an entire day’s net toll revenue to their newly nominated charities; Leonard Cheshire Disability, Royal National Institute of Blind People and the M6 Toll Hospice Partnership which unites Compton Hospice, Katharine House, St Giles and Birmingham St Mary’s. Midland Expressway Limited (MEL) has an ongoing commitment to support the County Air Ambulance who will also receive £30,000 from the amount raised on the day.
Tom Fanning, Chief Executive of MEL said: “Any motorcycle and car groups wishing to show their support and participate in the day’s event by displaying their vehicles must pre-register their interest by contacting the M6 Toll Press Office on 0845 838 1684 to ensure that they are allocated the appropriate number of spaces. Unregistered vehicles will be unable to exhibit and will not be eligible for free passage on the toll road. Due to overwhelming interest, the planned cavalcades along the toll road have now been cancelled, thus allowing us to concentrate on the visual displays and accommodate a larger number of vehicles.”
This year’s Drive for Charity day will be Saturday 10th May. To celebrate the day, MEL along with the charities, will be hosting an event at Norton Canes Motorway Service Area where there will be static displays of various motorcycles, and vintage and high performance cars.
Customers who visit the Roadchef services will be able to view these amazing vehicles and chat with the various motorcycle and car group members. There will also be various other family themed entertainment including a tombola; face painting and a bouncy castle for the children.
In return for registered participating motorcycle and car groups displaying their wonderful vehicles and giving up their spare time to show their support for the local good causes, MEL will waiver the toll charge allowing one free journey on the toll road on 10 May. Roadchef have also kindly agreed to provide a 15% discount to all registered participants at their Restbite and Wimpy outlets on the day.
Registered participants wishing to make a donation can of course do so in the collection buckets at the Roadchef services on the day. Alternatively, they can send a cheque made payable to Midland Expressway Limited to the FREEPOST address Drive for Charity, Midland Expressway Limited, Operations Centre, FREEPOST, NAT9069, Weeford, Lichfield, WS14 0BR.
To pre-register your interest and ensure allocation of spaces available, please contact M6 Toll Press Office on 0845 838 1684 or pressoffice@m6toll.co.uk
