ISLE OF WIGHT TO HOST ADDITIONAL ROUND OF MAXXIS CHAMPIONSHIP

The ACU are pleased to announce an additional round to the country`s foremost Motocross series. The Maxxis Motocross Championship will see the Isle of Wight hosting the extra round on the 29th June 2003.

The championship event will take place on the opening day of a week of motorcycling festivities on the Isle of Wight. The Maxxis round will kick-start the off-road festival which will run from the 29th June until the 5th July 2003 and form part of ACU centenary celebrations of 100 years of motorcycle sport in Great Britain.

The ACU acknowledges the tremendous efforts of Frank Dixon, Chairman of the Motocross Committee, in overcoming the many challenges involved in facilitating this additional round.

Commenting on the co-operation between the various groups Frank Dixon said: ‘We are delighted that all parties involved, including the Motocross Committee and the Vectis Club on the Isle of Wight, have worked together. Once again we are showing that team spirit is one of the ACU`s greatest assets.`

The Motocross Committee would also like to thank Halstead & DMC for their continued support and for their flexibility in rescheduling their round of the British Maxxis Championship. Their round has been moved to the 6th April 2003 to allow the Isle of Wight round to go ahead.

The Vectis club will run the round, with assistance from members of the Motocross Committee and ACU central office.
