Former Grand Prix, World and British Superbike rider, James Haydon rides for MSS Discovery at the Mallory Park round of the British Superbike Championship

MSS Discovery Kawasaki is pleased to announce that James Haydon will be deputising for the injured Stuart Easton at the Mallory Park round of the British Superbike Championship.

A former Grand Prix, World and British Superbike rider, Haydon has recently been seen in the pit lane at UK Superbike events in his other role as television commentator. The Andorra based thirty four year old sees his outing on the MSS Discovery Ninja ZX-10R as a welcome chance to show that his skill, determination and race craft are still at Championship level.

Amid mounting speculation, Haydon and the team have maintained their silence until the mutually agreed embargo of midnight on 24 June. James, and team principle, Nick Morgan, have not so far officially commented on the relationship despite some misleading reports.

“I had a quick shake down test a week or so ago and I must say it’s great to get back on a competitive motorcycle and get some laps under my belt. The MSS bikes are always immaculately turned out and having a chance to get up close a personal with the machinery, there are a lot of clever touches on the bikes that show how much development is going on”, commented Haydon. “I’d like to thank Nick, the team and sponsors for the chance to take part in what is recognised at the most competitive domestic championship in the world”.

For the team, the disappointment of Easton’s high speed crash at Snetterton has been tempered both by the adoption of Haydon for Mallory and the remarkable progress that the former British Supersport Champion is making.

“Obviously we are delighted to have a rider of the calibre of James Haydon on the bike at Mallory. It is important for the team and its partners to maintain the right profile and that is what we will achieve this weekend”, observed Team Principle, Nick Morgan.

“The medical report for Stuart suggests that the bone break in his wrist was clean and that he is healing remarkably quickly. I cannot say when he will be back right now, but it looks like the fans won’t have to wait too long before the team and Stuart, are back to full strength. Obviously we are upset that news of James has been aligned with unauthorised quotes but that is something we simply have to live with in the news hungry society we live in, and as Wilde said – the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about”.
