HOW DOES DATATAG WORK?

a day, 365 days a year to Police forces throughout the UK via our private
Videotext system or our secure Internet servers.
When any Datatagged item is scanned by a hand-held scanner used by Police
forces throughout the country, the tag transmits its unique identification
number. This number can then be instantly checked with our IBM computer
database and ownership can be verified. This means that suspect property
can be quickly and simply identified and returned to its rightful owner,
and the appropriate legal action can be taken against the thief. We all
like to hope that anyone stealing our property will be caught and punished,
but the real benefit for the law-abiding public is that Datatagged property
is extremely unattractive to potential thieves and is therefore far less
likely to be stolen.
