Datatag transponders are minute transmitters about the size of a grain of rice that are read by special scanners issued to police throughout the UK. The transponder's unique code, together with the engraved numbers, microdot details and a description of the property it is fitted to, including the owner's details, are logged on the Datatag mainframe computer. This data is available to police day or night through datatag's private videotect access system.
