Q. Do the Datatag transponders ever wear out or need servicing?
A. No, the transponders contain no batteries or other service parts and will last for many decades. There are no year 2000 problems.
 
Q. Who has scanners to read Datatag transponders?
A. We supply scanners free of charge to Police Forces and other official users on demand, Over 3,000 scanners have now been issued and we continue to supply these. Computer access terminals are also supplied free of charge?
 
Q. What happens to the data that you hold on the computer and about my property?
A. The data is held in the Datatag computer for Police and official use, and your details will not be supplied to the third parties for marketing purposes. We never delete the data held.
 
Q. What happens if I damage my bike and need to replace either the body panels which are marked, or the fuel tank, frame, wheels or seat which contain the transponders?
A. Replacement parts (stencil sets and chemicals or transponders) are available to purchase directly from Datatag id Limited by telephone on 01932 358023 and can be charged to Debit or Credit Cards.

Can I additional transponders to my bike?
A. Yes, just order the additional transponders as above.
 
Q. Can Datatag transponders be used in extreme temperatures? A - The transponders will survive a temperature band of minus 50ºC and plus 180ºC. Please check with us for further details. Q - Are the transponders affected by liquids or solvents?
A. All of the transponders are unaffected by liquids and will be unaffected by most acids and solvents - check with us for further details.
 
Q. Are the transponders affected by vibration?
A. The transponders will withstand high levels of both high frequency and low-frequency vibration
 
Q. If I sell the bike does the Datatag registration go with it?
A. New owners can have the registration changed to their name by use of the change of ownership form included with the registration confirmation letter. If the new owner is not given the form they can still have the registration updated but we need to make certain checks first.
 
Q. I already have Datatag on my bike but I had it fitted before the new Datadots were added in to the kit. Can I get these separately?
A. Yes, provided your machine is already on our database you can order a set of these directly from Datatag id Ltd. They are priced at £9.99 including VAT.
 
Q. Does Datatag really work?
A. Datatag has been around for a few years now and has had a major impact on both deterring theft and helping to ensure those few thieves foolish enough to steal a tagged bike are brought to answer for their actions.
