WHAT
IS DATATAG?
THE HIGH-TECH THEFT DETERRENT
Theft
of all kinds is a sad fact of life these days, but
Datatag allows you to take positive action to make
your property less attractive to thieves by making
it easily identifiable to the Police. Often it is
difficult for Police Officers to identify suspect
property, making it impossible for them to either
prove theft or restore the item to its rightful
owner.
When a thief is casting covetous eyes on your property
he is seeking something that can be sold quickly

Introducing Datatag, the most sophisticated security
marking system ever developed in the fight against
crime. At the heart of the system is a coded microchip
transponder or 'tag' which is designed to be hidden
inside the property to be protected. These tags
require no power source and because they are so
small they can be fitted to items ranging from something
as small and delicate as a bonsai tree through to
large earth movers as well as other vehicles such
as motorcycles and speedboats.
HOW DOES DATATAG WORK?
Like all good ideas, Datatag is essentially very
simple. Each tag is pre-programmed with a unique
serial number, and when it is fitted to your property
these serial number are registered on the Datatag
computer along with the lawful owner's name and
address. The Datatag IBM Computer is on line 24
hours a day, 365 days a year to Police forces throughout
the UK via our private Videotext system or our secure
Internet servers.
When any Datatagged item is scanned by a hand-held
scanner used by Police forces throughout the country,
the tag transmits its unique identification number.
This number can then be instantly checked with our
IBM computer database and ownership can be verified.
This means that suspect property can be quickly
and simply identified and returned to its rightful
owner, and the appropriate legal action can be taken
against the thief. We all like to hope that anyone
stealing our property will be caught and punished,
but the real benefit for the law-abiding public
is that Datatagged property is extremely unattractive
to potential thieves and is therefore far less likely
to be stolen.
